2. Our trading hours

Friday07:00 – 12:15 and 13:30 – 17:30
Sunday and public holidays07:00 – 17:00

Orders may be placed on this website at any time. They are picked and dispatched during trading hours.

3. What we sell

We are a supermarket. The products available to order online, with a description of each, are shown on our product pages. Not every department in the store is available online.

4. Prices

All prices are shown in South African Rand and include VAT at the current rate.

The full price you pay — including the delivery fee where delivery is selected, and all taxes — is shown to you before you place your order. There are no other charges.

Prices, promotions and product availability may change without notice. The price that applies to your order is the price shown when you place it. Promotions are subject to available stock.

Obvious pricing errors. If a displayed price contains an inadvertent and obvious error, we are not bound by it. If this happens after you have paid, we will correct the displayed price, tell you, and give you the choice of confirming your order at the corrected price or cancelling it for a full refund. We will not supply a different product instead.

5. Placing an order

Before you place your order you will be able to review it in full, change or remove any item, and cancel it without obligation.

When you place your order we send you an email acknowledging it. That acknowledgement is not a tax invoice and is not our acceptance of your order. A contract of sale comes into existence when we pick and dispatch your order, or make it available for collection.

Your tax invoice is issued by the store when your order is handed over.

Your record of the transaction. Your order confirmation email, and the order history in your account on this website, are available to you at any time and may be saved or printed.

6. Availability and substitutions

We are a supermarket, and stock moves between the time you order and the time we pick.

If an item you ordered is not available, we will tell you as soon as we know, and:

  • if you have told us at checkout that we may substitute, we will supply a comparable or better product and tell you what was substituted; or
  • if you have told us not to substitute, or nothing comparable is available, we will remove the item and refund you for it.

We will never charge you more for a substitute than the item you ordered. If the substitute costs less, we refund the difference.

You may refuse any substitute when your order is handed over, for any reason, and we will refund that item in full.

7. Payment

Payment is made online by card or electronic funds transfer through Payfast, a registered South African payment provider.

We never see or store your card details. You enter them on Payfast’s own secure payment pages. Our website uses an encrypted connection throughout.

8. Delivery and collection

See our Collection & Delivery Policy, which forms part of these terms and sets out our delivery area, fees, minimum order and timing.

9. Returns, refunds and cancellation

See our Returns & Refunds Policy, which forms part of these terms.

10. Your right to cancel under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act

Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act gives online shoppers the right to cancel certain orders within seven days, without reason and without penalty.

That right does not apply to most of what we sell. Section 42(2) of the same Act excludes foodstuffs, beverages and other goods intended for everyday consumption supplied to your home or workplace, and goods that are likely to deteriorate or expire rapidly. This exclusion is set by law and is not a term we have chosen.

Where the right does apply, you may cancel within seven days of receiving the goods, the only charge is the direct cost of returning them, and we will refund you in full within 30 days.

11. Age

You must be 18 or older to open an account or place an order.

12. Our liability

We are responsible for supplying goods that are safe, of good quality and fit for their ordinary purpose, as the Consumer Protection Act requires. We do not exclude, and cannot exclude, our liability for death, personal injury or illness caused by goods we supply, or for gross negligence.

13. Your rights

Nothing in these terms limits or removes any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, or any other law. Where anything in these terms conflicts with those rights, those rights apply.

14. Privacy

How we handle your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy.

15. Ongoing supply

We do not sell subscriptions or any product on a recurring or ongoing basis. Each order is a separate transaction with no minimum duration.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version published on this page when you place your order is the version that applies to that order.

17. Complaints

Please contact us first on grandeurspantry@gmail.com or 010 502 2547.

If we cannot resolve your complaint, you may approach the National Consumer Commission, or the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud at www.cgso.org.za.

18. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the courts of South Africa have jurisdiction.
